Lesson #13 🫶🏽: Be Unapologetic in Your Interests

An empowering lesson I've learned is to be unapologetic in your interests.

There's no such thing as a 'guilty pleasure.' If something makes you smile and is your vibe, then who tf cares what anyone else thinks?

It's fitting that this is reason number 13, and it was totally unplanned (iykyk). I remember when I was 12, I got REALLY into Taylor Swift. But back then, it wasn't cool to be a Swiftie. Her music was country, and the audience was primarily teenybopper girlies, which I was and STILL AM a teenybopper girlie. But at the time, I felt like I had to hide my love for her music.

The same could be said for my extreme obsessions with certain animes like Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and especially Kingdom Hearts. These were interests that I felt I had to downplay because they weren't 'cool' or 'mainstream.'

Now, guess what? Taylor Swift is BY FAR the most visible and followed artist worldwide. For Christ's sake, people are afraid that she's going to influence this upcoming election more than Russia did...or didn't? It's also now 'cool' to be into anime. The lesson here is to embrace what you love, regardless of what others think. Your interests are a part of who you are, and there's no need to apologize for them.

What makes you happy is valid and worthy of celebration. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise. You might also be surprised by the amount of other people who share your same interests.

What interests are you unapologetically passionate about? Share them in the comments, and let's celebrate our unique ~vibez~ together or send me a DM!
